New Client FAQ’s

  • A facial is a skincare treatment that typically involves cleansing, exfoliating, extracting, and hydrating the skin. It helps to improve the overall appearance and health of your skin by addressing specific concerns such as acne, dryness, or signs of aging.

  • The frequency of facials depends on your skin type, concerns, and lifestyle. Generally, it's recommended to get a facial once every 4-6 weeks to maintain optimal skin health. However, your esthetician can advise you on the best schedule based on your individual needs.

  • Most facials do not require downtime, and you can resume your normal activities immediately afterward. However, depending on the type of facial and your skin sensitivity, you may experience temporary redness or mild irritation, which typically subsides within a few hours.

  • It's best to avoid wearing makeup immediately after a facial to allow your skin to breathe and absorb the benefits of the treatment. If you must wear makeup, opt for mineral-based or non-comedogenic products, and wait at least a few hours before applying them.

  • 80% of skincare success is maintaining a skincare routine at home and 20% is in the treatment room. To maintain the results of your facial, follow a consistent skincare routine at home that includes cleansing, moisturizing, and using sunscreen daily. Your esthetician can recommend products tailored to your skin type and concerns to help prolong the effects of your facial.

  • It's not uncommon to experience a temporary increase in breakouts after a facial, especially if your skin underwent extractions or deep cleansing during the treatment. This is usually a result of purging impurities from the skin and should subside within a few days as your skin adjusts.

  • Generally, facials are safe during pregnancy, but it's essential to inform your esthetician if you are pregnant or trying to conceive. Certain treatments and ingredients may need to be avoided or modified to ensure the safety of both you and your baby.

  • Avoid Sun Exposure: Minimize sun exposure and tanning beds for at least a week before your appointment to reduce the risk of skin irritation and sunburn.

Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your appointment to keep your skin hydrated and promote a healthy complexion.

Avoid Certain Products: Refrain from using exfoliants, retinoids, or other harsh skincare products for a few days before your treatment to prevent potential irritation or sensitivity.

Inform Your Esthetician: Inform your esthetician of any allergies, skin conditions, or medications you're currently taking to ensure the treatment is tailored to your needs and is safe for you.

Avoid Hair Removal: Avoid waxing, tweezing, or shaving the area to be treated for a few days before your appointment to minimize irritation and ensure optimal results.

Skip Makeup: Arrive at your appointment with a clean face, free of makeup, sunscreen, and other skincare products to allow your esthetician to assess your skin accurately and perform the treatment effectively.

Arrive on Time: Arrive punctually for your appointment to allow enough time for consultation and treatment without feeling rushed.

Relax: Take some time to relax and unwind before your appointment to reduce stress and promote a positive experience during your skin treatment service.

Follow Instructions: Follow any specific pre-treatment instructions provided by your esthetician, such as avoiding caffeine or certain foods, to optimize the results of your treatment and minimize any potential side effects.

  • Hair Length: Ensure that the hair to be waxed is at least 1/4 to 1/2 inch long. If it's too short, the wax may not adhere properly, leading to less effective hair removal which could lead to the appointment being canceled with the full-service fee charged.

Exfoliate: Gently exfoliate the skin a day or two before your waxing appointment to remove dead skin cells and help prevent ingrown hairs. Do no exfoliate the same day of your appointment to prevent any skin sensitivity or irritation.

Avoid Moisturizers: Refrain from applying moisturizers, lotions, or oils to the area to be waxed on the day of your appointment, as they can create a barrier that prevents the wax from adhering properly.

Stay Hygienic: Ensure that the skin is clean and free of sweat, dirt, or makeup before your appointment. Showering beforehand is highly recommended but avoid taking a hot shower at least two hours before waxing, as it can make the skin more sensitive.

Avoid Sun Exposure: Minimize sun exposure to the area to be waxed for at least 24 hours before your appointment to reduce the risk of skin sensitivity and irritation.

Pain Management: If you're concerned about discomfort during waxing, you can take an over-the-counter pain reliever like Ibuprofen, Tylenol or Aleve at least 30 minutes to an hour before your appointment. However, avoid aspirin, as it can thin your blood and pose risks during the service.

Wear Comfortable Clothing: Opt for loose-fitting clothing to wear to your appointment, especially if you're getting a large area waxed, to ensure your comfort during and after the service.

Communicate: Inform your esthetician of any allergies, skin sensitivities, or medical conditions you may have, as well as any medications you're taking. This will help them choose the appropriate type of wax and ensure your safety and comfort during the service. Please make your esthetician aware if you are pregnant prior to beginning service.
